“Define Atheist” by
• http://www.youtube.com/PatricianAtheist

A look at how atheists and atheism are being misrepresented through intellectually dishonest and bias definitions of “atheist” and “atheism” courtesy of well-known and supposedly reputable dictionaries, i.e. Merriam-Webster, and educational websites, as well as religious groups and others.

Correct definition:
• Atheist (n.): one without a belief in, or one who lacks belief in, the existence of god or gods.

    Atheism is only a …
Atheism is only a belief compared to a bullshit god or religion, without those, it is just reality.

  4. iDeist Says:

    Traditional Atheism …
Traditional Atheism did deny the existence God. This changed after Big Bang cosmology showed the Universe actually did have a beginning and wast eternal, the argument most traditional Atheists used to use to prove their was no God. Most people on this site that call themselves “Atheist”, with the whole “lack of belief” psychological statement, are just high jacking Agnosticism. You should actually study the history of your belief system and world view before making videos about it.

    This is just an …
This is just an over analytical statement of definition from someone who is paranoid and butthurt about a couple of words being “misused.” His argument is full of logical fallacies in the sense that he thinks that all these definitions are out there to bash atheists. I’m an atheist and I personally don’t give a about Websters definition. I don’t believe in any god. I reject the Christian god, whoopdeefuckingdo

Atheism is a belief, as is everything else we are capable of thinking.

atheists dont believe there is no god. they just dont believe in god. big difference.

“I do not have any …
“I do not have any rocks in my pockets. I am without rocks. But, I am not deficient in rocks because having rocks in my pockets is not a desirable or essential condition.

If I am without vitamin A then I am deficient because vitamin A is essential for good health. Also, I may be deficient in vitamin A, that is I might not have enough of it, but this is not that same as being without vitamin A. To be without I would have to have none what so ever, not just less than is desired.”

    Some atheists have …
Some atheists have done their homework, gone through the intellectual arguments for and against the existence of God, and arrived at a thoughtful atheistic position but most just have no understanding of what real Christianity is.

For anyone who’s interested in learning more about the other side of the debate, my channel has some decent info.

    atheism:
1a. Disbelief in or denial of the existence of God or gods. b. The doctrine that there is no God or gods.

    2. Godlessness; immorality.

    Nice work American Heritage

    If all of those …
If all of those remain constant, then the behavior would be exactly the same. Were you to miss the shot or make it, as long as those factors stayed the same, it would be ludicrous to think the ball would react differently. You shooting the ball is much different because it’s not a controlled setting, so you can vary the controls constantly so that the same behavior is virtually never being repeated.

  15. BiggestOfDaddies Says:

    Not necessarily. …
Not necessarily. While you’re right about the appeal to authority, the quote isn’t anything more than just fun. It’s uncertain whether or not Einstein said it, but it doesn’t matter cause the definition holds true most of the time (I’d be hard pressed to see where it didn’t), I’ll explain what I mean. Your basketball analogy is flawed, because you’re not taking into account the angle in which you shoot or the trajectory, or even possible wind currents.

  16. PicklePumpers Says:

    That’s an urban …
That’s an urban myth and a logical fallacy; it’s an appeal to authority.

Einstein didn’t say that but putting his name on it is supposed to give it some legitimacy because if he said it then it must be true, he’s so smart after all.

Plus it’s not true. I can do the same thing over and over and expect different result quite sanely. For instance if I throw a ball at a hoop. I’m throwing it the same way every time but sometimes it goes in and sometimes it doesn’t because I suck at basketball.

  17. daddyleon Says:

    Zorrie, but …
Zorrie, but wouldn’t this be even better??

ATHEIST (n.): one without a believe, or one who lacks a believe in, the existence of a god, goddess, gods or goddesses.

  18. BiggestOfDaddies Says:

    I know what you …
I know what you mean, but just for kicks I thought I’d point out that, I think it was Einstein, defined “crazy” as – repeating the same behavior over and over again and expecting different results. Take from that what you will, but your comment made me think of it.

  19. ndwolfwood5268 Says:

    Ok, but here’s the …
Ok, but here’s the thing: there’s some nutjob SOMEWHERE that will say they are a ‘Theist Naturalist/Physicist/…” so how do you denote that you are NOT a theist in such an event that you encounter one of these idiots? Atheist is still a shorter word then the alternative explanation.

  20. ChristianIce Says:

    That’s funny …
That’s funny because the main concept of FAITH is “to believe in something without proof”.

So how in a world somebody that claim to have FAITH, while accepting that there is no evidence to support god existence, give it for granted while describing what atheism is.

No semantics allowed, atheism is a lack of believe, is a denial, from any point of view.

  21. RationalConclusion Says:

    The belief that …
The belief that gods don’t exist is known as hard atheism.

Those who are in opposition to theism are known as anti theists.

I am an agnostic atheist and an anti theist.

  22. PicklePumpers Says:

Now see THAT is a …
Now see THAT is a logical explanation and makes perfect sense.

For me personally it’s almost like gays taking back the word “faggot” and blacks taking back the work “nigger” from their derisive and hateful origins.

A theist doesn’t get to tell me what I mean when I say “Atheist” no more than I get to say what they mean when they say “Theist.” But I don’t try to define crazy, I just know it when I see it…

  23. zoeviz000 Says:

well i really did get tired of looking for my comment so i just wrote you a new one
    here is my response

so praying to a god that isn,t therer isn,t damaging you little head …..

  24. kingofschnitzels Says:

    I’m not saying …
I’m not saying believing is the same as not believing. I’m saying that in the right contexts, they can still both mean the same thing. For example, pretend that it’s a yes or no question: “Does God exist?” Believing that the answer is no, and not believing that the answer is yes, means the same thing.

  25. PicklePumpers Says:
