Like Hoagies Gifted that’s been mentioned, I would check out Deborah Ruf’s "levels of giftedness" (linked from Hoagies):

I would find books on prodigious ability and read up.

When your child is 5, s/he may be eligible for admission to the Davidson Young Scholars program. My son is a YS and it’s a wonderful thing – and FREE! They serve children until they’re 18.

I would say to peruse this site, it has more info on giftedness than anything else I’ve ever seen: http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/

The one thing I will say on milestones in gifted kids…don’t blink, they come quickly!
